Our Story
Redemption’s Hill was born out of a desire to see another gospel-centered, missionally focused church in Columbia, Missouri.
As God was faithful, a small group of disciples began to form, gathering for times of vision casting, theological formation and prayer. This gathering phase lasted longer than any of us expected as God was lovingly forming, pruning and preparing us to be His church. Redemption’s Hill officially launched public services in October of 2011 and God has been faithful to continue to establish, build, and grow His church. Redemption’s Hill has moved locations as God blessed us with ever-increasing fruit, a growing congregation, and provided facilities to accommodate the gathering.
God has also grown Redemption’s Hill through forming new Missional Communities, which meet throughout the week in homes across the city. Our Missional Communities are engaging our neighborhoods with the Gospel through mission and hospitality, and it is our expectation that Christ will continue to transform our city through Gospel Message, Gospel Family, and Gospel Mission.
Our Name
Redemption’s Hill is a reference to the hill on which Christ was crucified. It comes from a song entitled Lead Me To the Cross by Hillsong United.
Though the name comes from a song and references a hill, it is the meaning we hold to be the foundation for which we gather. All we have; all our hope, our redemption, our freedom flow from the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. We were dead in our trespasses and our sins (Ephesians 2:1) with no way to be reconciled to God, until Christ’s blood was spilled for our ransom on Redemption’s Hill.
